Brief

You have an idea

You have a few ideas

But a couple ideas is not enough

You need a plan... you need more than a plan. You need a design

Create a design. Using feedback, conventions, research and skill develop a design to use your idea.

You will need to investigate other similar outcomes to help with your design.

Grades

Achieved:
  • describe the purpose of the outcome and the requirements of the end users
  • investigate and applying relevant conventions 
  • generate and modelling a range of design ideas 
  • select a design for the purpose of the outcome and explaining the appropriateness of the design
  • explain relevant implications.
Merit

  • explain how the chosen design uses appropriate conventions

  • Justify how the chosen design addresses implications, end-user considerations, and uses appropriate conventions.

Pre Planning

1.) Explain the big idea. What are you wanting to create?
2.) Describe the purpose of the outcome.
"Describing the purpose of the outcome involves explaining the reason why the outcome was pursued or desired in the first place. It delves into the intentions or goals behind the outcome "
3.) Describe the requirements of the end users.
E.g. if you were making a train safety animation for all ages, a requirement might be making it cartoony, making points quite clear.
4.) Fill out relevant implications
5.) Investigate conventions used in the genre you are designing a concept for.
"How do they use space? fonts? colours? What do they all commonly do?"
6.) After investigating list some conventions you will be adhering to.
7.) Create 3 design mockups then choose one.
8.) Justify why you choose that design
9.) Get feedback then update the design twice.
10.) produce a final design.
​11.) Answer the reflection questions.

Conventions

Convention Definition:
"a way in which something is usually done."

In this section you need to investigate different outcomes that are similar to yours.

Take note of conventions that are commonly used with your outcome.

​Apply them to your design ideas.


For Merit you will have to explain how the conventions you have researched apply to your design.

For Excellence you will have to justify how the design addresses the conventions.

Design mock ups

Create at least 3 mock ups

Experiment with colour font and design layout

Then select one of the mock ups as one of your designs

Explain why your decision was appropriate.

​For Merit: Get feedback and update your design.

For Excellence justify why your design addresses end user considerations

Relevant Implications

Explain implications that are relevant, why they are relevant and how you will meet them

For Merit address how your design meets them

For Excellence justify how your design meets them.
